Gold(III)-pteridine compounds: synthesis, spectral, and X-ray diffraction studies on new adducts between sodium tetrabromoaurate(III) and lumazine derivatives

Pteridine-metal complexes have recently been studied to mimic the environment and reactivity of the metal site of the enzymes and some of these have been characterized by X-ray crystallography, however, we have not been able to find any reference to gold(III) complexes with lumazine (pteridine-2,4(1H,3H)dione) ligands. The study of these complexes may be of interest due to the well-established pharmacological activity of some gold(III) compounds.
